Summary

A SURVEY COMPARING TODAY’S CONSERVATORIES AND TRADITIONAL LODGE TRAINING SYSTEMS IN THE EDUCATION OF REAL ARTISTS

Religious music lies at the basis of all types of genuine music in the whole world, as the Turkish Classical Music. However, when the curricula of today’s Turkish Music Conservatories are analyzed, it is observed that the deserved attention is not given in this regard. There is almost no emphasis on the İslâmic monasteries’ role as locations for educating maturing artists and producing almost masterpiece works, which had truly performed as the conservatories of their time period. It is not possible to say that the capacity to become individuals who digests and absorbs information, and who are modest, wise and at the same time artistic as brought with the training system in lodges is provided fully in today’s art education institutions. Oral pieces of Turkish Music sustain their validity at all times since they contribute to human beings’ spiritual education and Anatolian Saints’ novel sâyings address humanity of all times. Works of today indicate that we are considerably lacking in poetry of rhythmic and sentimental value that would reveal the music hidden in poetry being the primary objective of composing and in sufistic pleasure. The achievement of values that make a musician become an artist is the outcome of art education that is given along with spiritual education. Especially composing and vocal artistry in the area of Turkish Music cannot reach the top with a process not accompanied by spiritual education; because, those requiring passing beyond the technique are the facts with overweighing metaphysic aspects. Sufi masters have never made concessions on essential culture, art and moral values and through love, succeeded in raising consciousness on popular elements that do not serve the existential aim of human being and alienate him/her from spirituality.
