INVESTIGATION OF THE RECREATION BENEFIT LEVELS AND COVID-19 PHOBIAS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN TERMS OF DIFFERENT VARIABLES

It is thought that the Covid-19 process, which has emerged in recent years and has affected the world, has negative effects on people. It can be said that among these negative effects, the recreational benefit levels of individuals are also affected. The aim of this study is to examine the recreational benefit levels and Covid-19 phobias of university students in terms of different variables. The population of the study is comprised of the students of the Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University, and the sample group consists of a total of 538 people (274 women (x̄age=22.9±4.7) and 264 men (x̄age=21.2±4.5). Data collection tools were the Recreation Benefit Scale (RBS) and Covid-19 Phobia Scale (CP19-S). The data were analysed via descriptive statistical methods, t-Test, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and the Bonferroni Test. It was determined that the scores of the physical benefit, psychological benefit, and social benefit subscales of the recreation benefit scale did not show a statistically significant difference according to the variables of gender and Covid-19 infection, but the scores of the psychological benefit subscale of the recreation benefit scale showed a statistically significant difference according to the level of welfare variable. The scores of the physical benefit, psychological benefit, and social benefit subscales of the recreation benefit scale showed a statistically significant difference according to the Covid-19 Infection of the Inner Circle. While the scores of the psychological subscales of the coronavirus-19 phobia scale showed a statistically significant difference according to the gender variable, the scores of the psychosomatic, social, and economic subscales did not show a statistically significant difference according to the gender variable. In addition, the scores of the psychological, psychosomatic, and social subscales of the Covid-19 phobia scale showed a statistically significant difference according to the Covid-19 infection variable, and the scores of the psychological and psychosomatic subscales showed a statistically significant difference according to the Covid-19 Infection of the Inner Circle variable. However, the scores of the psychological, psychosomatic, social, and economic subscales of the Covid-19 phobia scale did not show a statistically significant difference according to the level of welfare variable. Finally, the participants were found to benefit mainly psychologically in terms of the benefit of recreation and mainly psychologically affected by the Covid-19 phobia.
