The research was carried out in January, 2016 with 156 fourth grade students in Pasinler district of Erzurum province and 5 primary school teachers working in these classes. Research is a mixed research method. Three data and semi-structured interview forms were used as data collection tools of the research. The texts are informative, narrative and poetry. Validity and reliability studies were conducted with 53 students to determine the validity and reliability of the research data collection tools. The final form of research data collection tools was implemented on 156 students. Five primary school teachers were also interviewed. As a result of the research, it was found that the rate of understanding the storytelling text by primary school fourth graders was 73%, the rate of understanding poetry was 71% and the rate of understanding informative text was 76%. As a result of one-factor variance analysis for the unrelated samples, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the mean score of ( x = 79,07) listening to the story text and the mean score ( x = 71,11) that the poem was listening (F = 2, 465) = 3,13 , p<0.05.
