THE OPINIONS OF PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS ABOUT HOMEWORKS

The purpose of the study is to determine the opinions of the primary school teachers about science homeworks. The qualitative research method was used in this study. One of the purposive sampling methods, criterion sampling methods was used in current research. Participants consisted of 12 primary school teachers (8 females and four males) teaching in primary schools in 2015-2016 academic year, in Afyonkarahisar, Turkey. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The researchers designed a form that contains the questions and the interviews were audiotaped. In this study, the data obtained were analyzed via descriptive analysis technique. The data of the study was analyzed through descriptive analysis techniques. For the reliability of the study, it was calculated as % 88. Findings were presented under these headings with direct quotes indicated by nick names assigned to the related participants. At the end of the research, it was found that, the teachers have a positive opinions giving homeworks to the students. The teachers believed that the homeworks were useful for students. And the teachers wanted the parents of the students to help the students while they were studying on homeworks.
