CAREER PLANNING LEVELS: A STUDY ON STUDENTS of PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS SCHOOL

This study aims to examine the career plans of students of the School of Physical Education and Sports. The study group consists of 482 participants (f: 160; m: 322 in total) studying at Siirt University School of Physical Education and Sports in the 2019-2020 academic year. The demographic information form developed by the researcher and the career planning scale developed by Yavuz Eroğlu and Eroğlu (2020) were used as data collection tools. Number, percentage, average and standard deviation were used as descriptive statistical methods in the evaluation of the data. The t-test was used to compare quantitative continuous data between two independent groups, and the One-way Anova test was used to compare quantitative continuous data between more than two independent groups. Scheffe test was used as a complementary post-hoc analysis to determine the differences after the Anova test. As a result, there were significant differences in favor of the students studying in the department of physical education in the sub-dimension of the accuracy of the choice and the adequacy of education in the department variable and in favor of men in the sub-dimension of the correctness of the selection in the gender variable. Significant differences were found in favor of those studying in the fourth grade in the sub-dimensions of professional awareness and career belief and in favor of illiterate people in the sub-dimension of career belief at the mother’s education level. Significant differences were found in favor of having a family close to the career plan in the sub-dimension of the accuracy of the choice, in favor of licensed athletes in the sub-dimension of the adequacy of education, and in favor of those who took a career planning course in school in the sub-dimension of the accuracy of the choice p <0.05. In addition, there were no significant differences according to marital status, father’s education level, members doing sports in the family, and salary expectation variables p> 0.05.
