AN INVESTIGATION OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS ABOUT FATIH PROJECT

The aim of this study is to investigate high school students’ perception about the usage of interactive boards and tablets. It also aims to investigate students’ perception about FATİH Project in general. The study was conducted in a high school designated as a pilot school in Ankara. The study was designed using the case study method. The data were collected in two steps. Focus group interview method was used in the first stage and semi-structured interview method was used in the second step. When the results were examined, it was noticed that the students were generally satisfied with the distribution of the tablets, but the reason why each student was satisfied differed according to the purpose of the use of tablets by students. For example, to some student tablets make studying more enjoyable. On the other hand, for some students, tablets are nothing more than a device for entertainment and listening to music. In order for the project to be successful, it could be said that students should be informed and guided about how to use tablet computers during teaching-learning processes. It is also suggested that teachers support students’ use of technology in teaching-learning processes.
