INFLUENCES OF GROUP RESEARCH METHOD BASED ON TO THE STUDENTS’ HISTORICAL CULTURE KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS OF CULTURAL HERITAGE CONSERVATION

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the Group Research method on students’ historical background awareness and conservation awareness of the historical backgrou8nd. In the study, pre-test-post-test experimental pattern with control group was used. Working groups consist of 50 students who are trained in the first semester of the 2016 – 2017 academic year at 9th grade of a high school located in Trabzon. One of the groups was selected as the experiment and the other as the control group by random sampling. The datas of the study were collected with the Historical Background Opinion Scale and the semi-designed interview form. In the analysis of the datas arithmetic mean, standard deviation, independent samples t-test and paired samples t-test were used. It is understood that both of the two methods have positive influence on cognitive and affective learning. However, it has been understood that the Group Research technique is more effective in enhancing historical background knowledge and improving the historical background conservation consciousness rather than current program. At the end of the education conducted by applying the Group Study technique, it was seen that the students had higher consciousness of history and changed their negative attitudes towards history.
