JOINT VENTURES UNDER TURKISH LAW

In todays world, multinational companies prefer working with another company while conducting commercial business abroad. The most common method to achieve this cooperation is 'joint venture'. In international business, distribution of products and services abroad is possible through joint venture contracts. With joint venture, risk can be spread, help overcome foreign market obstacles, acquire easier access to technologic and technical knowledge and strengthen entrepreneurships overall standing in the market. Corporate legal bodies, multinational companies, natural person and legal entities enter a contractual relationship under the roof of Joint Venture. Because of this, most countries regulate 'joint venture' in their legal system. Considering Turkish Laws, there is no regulation about joint venture. That said, due to joint venture's purpose, elements, parties of the agreement and the contract's nature falls within the jurisdiction of certain legislative acts. This work examines the joint ventures, their types and legal structures under Turkish Law.
