INVESTIGATION OF THE VALUE JUDGMENTS OF VOCATIONAL SCHOOL STUDENTS

In this study, it is aimed to determine what values are the values which direct the behaviors of the college students. In this context, a descriptive study was conducted to determine what the current situation is. The population of this research consisted of 1379 students studying in Bulent Ecevit University Ahmet Erdoğan Health Services Vocational School at 2016–2017 academic year and the sample consisted of 349 students. ‘The Schwartz Value Scale’ which was developed by Schwartz (1992) and adapted to Turkish by Kuşdil and Kağıtçıbaşı (2000) was used as data Collection tool in the research. The SPSS 16 statistical program was used in the analysis of the data, and the relationship between the sub-value types and the main value types and the variables in the Schwartz Value Scale were determined. Unrelated group t-test from parametric tests was used to compare the values of two groups. According to the results of t-test, there a significant difference in favor of women between hedonism and self-esteem sub-types and sex change. A significant difference was found between universality and benevolence sub-value types and classroom variables in favor of 1st grade students. The order of importance in the sub-value types dimensions of the students is as follows; benevolence, universality, security, self-interest, tradition, success, power, conformity, arousal and hedonism.
